Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, Minister of Defence And Military Veterans (MoD&MV) told journalist that the South African built Rooivalk attack helicopter is in demand after its success story in the unfriendly terrain of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Speaking of the sidelines of Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD), she said “we are proud of the capabilities of the Rooivalk, it has impressed the world, and the United Nations (UN) has rented it from us”. She further noted that the country is seeing positive spinoffs from its success against M23 rebels inside DRC.

According to the minister, during AAD, DENEL would be displaying the helicopter. Furthermore the South African Air Force (SAAF) will do its best during the mini war demonstration to showcase its fighting power. MoD&MV was noncommittal on where there will be any deals to sign with foreign defence forces wanting the Denel build attack helicopter. Moreover she said if there is a demand, South Africa would not disappoint.
