Fire Drill Competition 13-19 April 2008

The SAAF Fire Training School initiated the above competition during 1986 with the main objective being the measuring of the training, skills, fitness and standard of the SAAF fire and rescue services.

The competition was later expanded to include the other Arms of Service of the Defence Force and Airports Company.

During 1997 the RSA was the host country for the International Fire Games, which took place in the city of Durban. Thirty-four countries participated including USA, UK, France, New Zealand, Australia and Japan. This event takes place every four years in a different country, where Fire Brigades from all over the world participate, measuring and displaying their levels of skill, fitness and training.
