Colonel M.P. Sehloho

Col Motshabi Phanuel Sehloho was born in Wesselsbron in the Free State on 30 January 1961. He started his schooling in Wesselsbron and ended up in Itsoseng Township at Tswelelopele High School doing his final Senior Certificate in 1981.

In 1983, he joined the then Bophuthatswana Defence Force and underwent training as an infantry soldier. He qualified as a Platoon Commander and was promoted to a rank of Second Lieutenant. After serving a few years as a Platoon Commander, he underwent pupil pilot training and qualified as a military pilot.

He integrated into the SANDF in 1994 as a Captain. He was re-mustered to Military Intelligence specialising in Counter Intelligence after failing his flying medical.

In 1996, he was appointed as a Directing Staff at the Officer Forming Wing at SAAF College. In 1998, he completed the Junior Commandant Staff Course. In 1999 he was promoted to the rank of Major and appointed as Staff Officer Counter Intelligence Force Preparation.

In 2001, he was promoted to the rank of Lt Col and continued to serve as Staff Officer Counter Intelligence Force Preparation.

In 2005, he completed the Joint Senior Commandant Staff Programme. In 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Colonel and appointed as Senior Staff Officer Counter Intelligence. In 2007, he completed the Executive National Security Programme.

In 2009, he was appointed as Senior Staff Officer (Inspector) Operations Evaluation in the Inspector General of the Air Force.

In 2011, he was revalidated for flying and re-mustered as a pilot.

Col Sehloho is married and is blessed with a wife and three sons. His hobbies are reading and gardening. In his spare time, he does odd jobs especially bricklaying to keep fit.
